HOUSE OF FUN OLYMPICS / WORLD’S LONGEST NUTTY TRAIN /

MADNESS CURATED CINEMA / WINTER SEA SWIMMING / SQUEAKY HILL / ROCKAOKE / SILENT DISCO

Already brimming with a wealth of nutty musical delights including Beardyman, Maverick Sabre, Paul Heaton, dan le sac v Scroobius Pip, and Baxter Dury, all curated by Camden’s finest themselves, Madness’s House of Fun Weekender at Butlins Minehead on 25th-28th November also boasts an array of diverting revelry and amazing entertainment to amuse and entice. From Olympian challenges and pop-up parties, to a mettle-testing dip in the sea and a world record attempt, the House of Fun Weekender will be jam-packed with merriment all weekend long.

Fancy yourself a dab hand at pool? Got a better eye in than Phil the Power? Got a mean bowl? Then Welcome to the House of Fun Olympics! Butlins is set for a tournament like no-other when the House of Fun Olympics descends on the Weekender. Darts, Bowling and Pool are the sports in question, which means that bulging abs and pulsing pecs are not required! Each game can be enjoyed with a pint, or even some chicken in a basket...Teams must be made up of two people, and the prizes on offer include exclusive Madness goodies!

As well as Herculean sporting events, we will play host to a very special record breaking attempt. Recreating one of the most iconic images associated with Madness, there will be a world record attempt for the longest Nutty Train ever. Taking place at 1pm on Saturday 26th November make sure you’re there to join in and remember the organisers motto “’It’s Not a conga.’ We are Madness fans. Not fans of Black Lace!”

Not only has Madness curated the outstanding music for the weekend they have also curated some cinematic greats for your viewing pleasure, from ‘Brighton Rock’ as chosen by Chas Smash to Suggs’ pick ‘Bronco Bullfrog’. With a selection of seminal moments from down the pictures screening throughout the weekend, Saturday morning at 11am will also see the premiere of ‘Miswas’ a film made by fans from the Madness Information Service!

Following Saturday’s antics the editor of the Funday Times – the House of Fun Weekender’s free onsite collector’s item newspaper - invites you to join him for a bracing swim in the Bristol Channel. With Cuban Brothers’ head honcho Miguel Mantovani and comedian Ben Norris already confirmed for the gelid paddle, make sure you bring your bathing gowns and swim suits along so you can blow away the cobwebs with a dip in the sea, ready for another day’s entertainment.

After a summer peddling their silly wares around the UK, Squeaky Hill joins the House of Fun Weekender for a weekend to remember. The itinerant group of tinkers, pickles and idiots will be directing the weekend’s fun with their mix of games and odd ball antics. With the troupe as excited and excitable as ever, they’re chomping at the proverbial bit to present their latest menagerie of the weird and wonderful for your interactive pleasure.

The agents of mayhem will host Human Dog Trials, Crap Face Painting, Strictly Come B-Boy, Puff Daddy’s Musical Bingo, Blindfold Musical Chairs, Deal or No Meal, Blind Hate, Bottle Rockets, a whole day of betting with real fake money and Peg Face Championships (to name but a few) with the sole intention of bashing at the icy clutches of shyness and enabling you to make the most of your time. Be sure not to miss them curate various pop up parties and catch them hosting all the day time fun in the Irish Bar, where the beer never stops pouring!!

Further entertainment will come from Rockaoke, the UKs original, best and only specialist live karaoke band, inviting their audience to “live the dream” by taking to the stage and singing with a live rock band. Plus there will be the unique and unforgettable Silent Disco experience, where DJs go head to head to win your favour, battling through your own personal wireless headphones. And, don’t forget the previously announced exhibition darts from Wayne Mardle and Peter Manley and comedy from Ben Norris, Nick Wilty and many more.
